How to Beat the King of the Yellow Shore (Saros Boss Guide)
The encounter with King, the Overlord of the Yellow Shore, is a high-stakes battle that tests your ability to balance defense and aggression. As the final major hurdle in Saros, this boss utilizes a mix of projectile spam and devastating area-of-effect (AoE) attacks.
1. Preparation: The Essentials
Before stepping into the arena, ensure you are properly geared to handle King’s relentless nature.
-
Weaponry: A high-tier Rifle or Handcannon is recommended for consistent damage.
-
Skill Check: Ensure you have upgraded your Shield Integrity and Maximum Power. The ability to absorb blue projectiles is your primary way to recharge your Power Weapon.
-
The Shield: Remember the “Color Code”:
-
Blue: Absorb with your shield to build Power.
-
Yellow: Can be absorbed, but will drain your shield extremely fast. Best to dash through.
-
Red: Unblockable. Dodge or parry only.
-
2. Phase 1: The Shield Cycle
King starts the fight defensively, often hiding behind a Yellow Forcefield.
-
Break the Guard: Use your melee attacks or a charged Power Weapon shot to shatter the yellow shield.
-
The Homing Spiral: When King summons a spiral of blue projectiles, don’t run away. Hold your shield up to absorb them; this is your best chance to max out your Power bar for a counter-attack.
-
The Floor Orbs: Watch the water. King will send pairs of turquoise orbs along the ground. They are easy to miss but can be absorbed for extra energy.
3. Phase 2: Nova Projectiles & Shockwaves
Once his health drops, King becomes more mobile and his attacks gain “Nova” properties, meaning they explode on impact or after a delay.
-
Jump the Shockwaves: King will slam the ground, sending out vertical and horizontal lines. You must jump over or dash under these; blocking is less effective here due to the shockwave’s lingering damage.
-
The Goading Tactic: Stay relatively close to King. If you are nearby after a melee hit, he often resorts to a predictable “Jagged Blue Projectile” attack. You can simply run backward to avoid all damage while firing your regular weapon.
-
Yellow Lasers: When King raises his arms and they glint with yellow light, he is charging a massive beam. Wait for the bright flash, then dash sideways immediately.
4. Phase 3: The Final Lunge
In the final phase, King’s frequency of attacks increases dramatically.
-
Watch the Fist: King’s most dangerous move is a lunging punch. Watch for a bright yellow/orange flash on his fist. This is your cue to dodge a split second later.
-
Focus on Regular Damage: It can be tempting to use complex Alt-fires here, but King is so aggressive that it’s safer to stick to your standard firing cycle and focus 90% of your attention on movement.
-
Weak Point: Always aim for the Head. If you have Autohit disabled, focusing your fire here will end the fight significantly faster.
